Good Evening Sharks!
Ready…Set…Go! The official season kickoff is tomorrow morning at 6:25am.
We want you with us for the duration and we expect the best from you. Your best does not mean the fastest, the strongest or the smartest, it means the best that you have to offer every time we are together as a team. Freshmen will receive plenty of reminders but expectations increase each season for returners.
Warning, this one’s a long one! Lots of important information. As we transition from summer conditioning to fall training we have many things to take care of in order to make this our best season yet!! ALL IN – ALL OUT – ALL SEASON!

SPONSORSHIP DRIVE!!! LET'S FINISH JULY STRONG!
As we head into the last week of July, it’s time to pick up the pace—not only on our runs, but also in our fundraising.
A big shout-out to the families and businesses that have already helped kick off this year’s drive:
First-time donors:
The Cain Family jumped right in as Angel Shark Sponsors. It’s always exciting when the newbies go first!
We are also grateful to our first-time local business sponsor, Precision Turf, Inc., for stepping in as a Sand Shark Sponsor—just because they have a big heart and, well, we asked.
Returning second-year donors:
The Beshany Group at Merrill Lynch is coming in as another heavenly Angel Shark Sponsor.
Novus Freight Solutions and the Barket Family are both stepping up as Sand Shark Sponsors—woohoo!
And for a third year, The Killoran Family is looking Sandy!
And now, drumroll please, for the final sponsor in this email...
Hotspot Shield – The Feather Family is donating for a fourth year and at the True Blue Sponsor level of $2K. Thank you, thank you!
Last year, we raised almost $28,000 and increased our participation. This year, let’s surpass that number by growing engagement from both our PVXC families and our local community. Please print or forward the attached 2 slides to local families and businesses that care about giving back to the community that raises and develops AMAZING kids.
The donation drive will end on August 22nd. Please consider making a contribution here: Sponsorship Drive
WITH YOUR HELP, THESE KIDS WILL ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS!
ALL IN – ALL OUT – ALL SEASON

Hydration
With temperatures rising we need you to pay extra attention to your hydration. Please be mindful to hydrate throughout the day not - just before and after exercise. The rule of thumb is to aim for no less than half your body weight in ounces (ex – 120 pounds = 60 ounces, at a minimum).
You should also be eating something light with carbohydrates (sugar) and sodium (salt) in the morning when you wake up. A breakfast bar, pretzels, toast/banana, etc. will help you feel and perform better. Eating immediately after your training (during stretching) will benefit your recovery. Carbs and proteins are best following a workout.
Fall Race Schedule
Our race/meet schedule is updated on our website to help you plan your fall calendar. We usually leave school by 5:00am and return around 11:30am on Saturdays but be sure to check for updates the week of the meet.
Freshman Pancake Breakfast Run
Our annual newcomers and freshmen pancake breakfast and run (done in opposite order) is Saturday morning August 7th from 7:00am to 9:00am at Coach Vad's house. Athletes only but we do need parents to flip pancakes! Coach Vad sent out an email earlier this week with details.

Senior Fin Painting
Monday, August 3 | 8:15–9:30 AM | PVHS Track
All Juniors – Prep and paint over last year's fins.
Tuesday, August 4 | 8:15–10:30 AM | PVHS Track
All Seniors – Paint your senior fin.
One of our favorite PVXC traditions is our Senior Fin Painting. Each senior decorates a shark fin along the sidewalk by the track to commemorate their final season with the team. Juniors help prepare the fins by painting over last year's artwork.
What to Bring
- Bug spray
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Towel to kneel on while painting
Seniors
Grey, black, light blue, and white paint, along with a 1-inch foam brush, will be provided. If you plan to include detailed artwork, please bring your own:
- Stencils
- Small paintbrushes
- Paint palettes
- Any additional paint colors you'd like to use
Please do not rinse paint supplies in the school restrooms.
Snack Volunteers
We'd love a few volunteers to bring snacks and hydration for our painters! If you'd like to help, please sign up!
