We are about a
month and a half into the official season, and we are about to enter a very
busy and exciting stretch, beginning with the Horse Park Invitational in Ocala
on Saturday, September 5th.
For this race, the coaching staff has selected 20 boys and 20 girls to represent our school. Horse Park is a fun, competitive event for our athletes, and it is an honor to be chosen.
So, how did we select this particular group?
The athletes were chosen based on a combination of demonstrated race results – both past and present, along with potential, hard work, consistency, and commitment to the training process.
There really is no secret to becoming a successful runner:
“The secret is there is no secret. It’s the trial of miles. Show up. Put in the work. Repeat for a really long time. — Steve Magness
That is exactly what we see in the Horse Park athletes. Not coincidentally, many of these will be recognized at practice this week for this consistency – for putting in long runs of 10 miles and training volume of 40 or even 50 miles per week.
Many athletes on our team haven’t reached these levels yet, and that’s OK. Remember: everyone starts somewhere. If they followed the training plan last week, they will have run 33 miles or more. We are gradually and safely building to a peak of 40 miles per week.
To the athletes who want to improve, pay attention to the habits of your teammates who are finding success. Listen to your coaches. Follow the training plan. Be patient with the process.
Keep showing up. Keep working. Keep building. Your opportunity will come.
Follow the race here, Saturday 7:20am to 8:40am

PVXC Sponsorship Drive is a SUCCESS!
PVXC Family, we did it! Goal Reached!!!!!
Thanks to the incredible support of our families, friends, and local businesses, we not only reached our sponsorship goal—we surpassed it, raising $28,350 for PVXC. This is a huge win for our program and a powerful reminder of what this team community can accomplish when everyone rallies behind our athletes.
A special thank-you to the Eastman Family and Michael Blanchard, Realtor, for jumping in at the Angel Shark level near the finish line, along with several longtime donors who generously rounded up their previous donations. Your support pushed us over the top :)
