“You have to expect things of yourself before you can
do them.”
— Michael Jordan
Our first race of the season is less than one week away. Many returning runners are looking to pick up where they left off last season and set a new PR. Some of them have committed to offseason training much more than last year and expect to finish far ahead of last year’s mark. Still others don’t have a lot of experience to base their goals upon and may be looking to establish nothing more than a starting point for future goals.
Whatever your goals may be, they must come from a belief within you, not from what someone else thinks you should accomplish.
Believing in a goal is only the beginning; you also need to define it clearly and understand what it will take to get there. That is where we, as coaches, can help. We will be handing out goal sheets for athletes this week and will be splitting them up among the coaches to give each athlete individual attention to their goals.

2026 Car Wash Success!!!
The PVXC car wash was a huge success—everyone had a great time, and we raised more than we did last year! A bunch of our athletes even kicked off the morning with a 10-mile run, which says everything about their dedication, while Rob Graham brought the next-level donuts to keep the energy high. Tons of families and friends came out to support, and we even had the honor of washing St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office car belonging to Mr. Rob Hardwick. Most importantly, it was a fun day together for our team community. A huge shoutout to the parents who made it happen: Stephanie Marciani, Bridget Barket, Lesley LaVasser, and Maria Marshall—get used to seeing these names, because these ladies are the engine behind our team. If you see them, please thank them—or give them a hug!
Sponsorship update August 16th
PVXC Family, we are building something special!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our families, friends, and local community, we have now raised $19,800 for Ponte Vedra Cross Country! Every sponsorship directly strengthens the experience we provide for our athletes so THANK YOU - many have stepped up!!
This is our final week to make a push, and our biggest goal is simple: increase participation. Any amount truly helps. Whether it is a Pup Shark, Angel Shark, Sand Shark, Great White, or beyond, every family and every sponsor who joins us becomes part of what makes PVXC feel like family.
Welcome Our New Sponsors
A huge welcome and thank-you to this week’s new sponsors: The Reily family and the Yawn family for joining the PVXC family at the Pup Shark
level. The Howton family, a remarkable four-year donor, for once again supporting our athletes at the Sandshark level. Thank you for your continued belief in this program. The Goodfriend family, joining the team for their first year, at the Sandshark level. We are thrilled to have you as good friends and members of PVXC family! The Yoder family, returning for their second year as Sandshark donors. An extra-big shoutout to the Makey family for becoming a Great White Sponsor in their very first year of giving! That is an amazing commitment, and we are incredibly thankful for your support.
Community Champion
A special shoutout goes to Maria Marshall, who went out into the community and secured three local-business sponsorships for PVXC! That is outstanding work and a powerful example of how our athletes and families can connect with the people and businesses around us.
During this final week, we will encourage each of our athletes to follow that example: reach out, share the story of PVXC, and invite a local business to be part of our season. It is a great way to engage our community—and an important life skill for our kids as they learn to confidently communicate and advocate for something they care about.
Let’s Finish Strong
We are so close to an incredible sponsorship campaign, but there is still room for every family to participate. Any amount helps. If you have not yet sponsored, please consider joining us this week. If you have already given, thank you—and please consider sharing the opportunity with a friend, family member, or local business.
Let’s make this final week our strongest yet. One team. One family. Let’s go PVXC!
